Date: 24 Nov – 26 Nov 2025
Venue: Melaka
Event: Toucan Expedition 2025
The SJIS Toucan Expedition 2025 was a memorable three-day experience filled with exploration, teamwork, and fun under clear, sunny skies. The journey began at Zoo Melaka, where students explored various wildlife exhibits, fed elephants, observed endangered birds up close, and enjoyed a relaxing tram ride around the zoo.
The expedition continued with an exciting jungle trek that challenged students to work together and show resilience on a muddy trail. This was followed by a lively telematch involving four competing groups, promoting teamwork and sportsmanship. The day ended with a joyful evening of karaoke, prize-giving, and musical chairs, creating moments of laughter and celebration.
On the final day, students visited the Maritime Museum and the Royal Malaysian Navy Museum, gaining insights into Malaysia’s maritime history. The trip concluded with free time and lunch at Jonker Walk before returning to Kuala Lumpur. Overall, the Toucan Expedition was an enriching journey that strengthened friendships and created lasting memories.

From 24 to 26 November 2025, our students set off on the highly anticipated Toucan Expedition 2025, heading to the historic city of Melaka for three days of discovery and bonding. Leaving the familiar school halls behind, the group traded their desks for an immersive experience that perfectly blended outdoor fun with cultural appreciation. The trip was designed to get students out of their comfort zones, and it was heartening to see them embrace every challenge with bright smiles and a great sense of adventure.
A major highlight of the expedition was our stay at the Amverton Resort, which served as the perfect hub for both relaxation and team-building. Between the organised activities and the chance to unwind in the resort’s beautiful surroundings, students had the opportunity to build stronger friendships outside their usual social circles. It wasn’t just about the activities, though; the “people” element truly shone through as older students looked out for the younger ones, embodying the supportive community spirit we strive for at SJIS.
The journey continued with a meaningful visit to Melaka heritage sites, where history came alive through the city’s famous architecture and storied streets. Walking through the heritage zones allowed our students to appreciate the rich, multicultural tapestry of Malaysia firsthand. We returned home a little tired but with hearts full of memories and a deeper understanding of our shared history. A huge thank you to the teachers and staff who ensured everyone stayed safe and engaged throughout this incredible expedition!
